“If a little knowledge is dangerous, where is the man who has so much as to be out of danger?”
— Thomas Huxley

Pounding footsteps, burning lungs, and the heavy weight of a duffel bag packed with stolen cash accompanied you as you chased your way down the sidewalk, sirens wailing in the streets not far behind you. You checked over your shoulder and saw the red and blue colors that rolled across the pavement after you and you cursed, pushing yourself just a little further down the street. The bag thumping against your side as you raced reminded you that it was all worth it in the end, so long as you didn't get caught.

“Come on, (Name)!” You hissed the nervous encouragement between gritted teeth as your burning legs pushed you farther, drifting a corner with a curse as you skinned your black jeans through the material to your skin, already feeling blood seep out of the scrapes from the slide. You stumbled slightly at the loss of speed and nearly snarled in frustration, the glance over your shoulder distracting you from the figure that you promptly slammed into and knocked down. Winded, the person and you wheezed out in pain, but you pushed the feeling aside and tried to scramble to your feet, having dropped your precious bag and knocked your mask off in the wreckage.

“A-Ah, you have caught me by surprise,” The male you collided with drawled out dramatically in an all-too-familiar hoarse voice, slowly standing up with a large gulp of air. “If I didn't know better, I'd say you were—(Name)?”

You noticeably tensed at the recognition, meeting the shocked brown eyes that stared you down incredibly, but quickly grew cocky within a matter of seconds. “A pleasant surprise! My dear Karamatsu Boy, if you wanted to visit me so badly, you could have just said so.” The second eldest sextuplet hummed, winking an eye at you.

You rolled your eyes in exasperation, opening your mouth to respond, but the screeching police sirens had you freezing and jolting back to attention. Karamatsu noticed this and quirked a brow, his ego faltering when you completely ignored him and went to reach for your bag and mask.

“Come on. Hurry,” Was your rushed reply when you grabbed his wrist and yanked hard. Your lungs were nearly on fire when you started running again, shoving a hand down to the holster on the belt hugging your hips, flipping the latch open and sliding out an explosive with sweat dripping down your temples. The run-in with Karamatsu ate up some of your distance between the cops and yourself, and though you didn't want to resort to using violence against the law... desperate times call for desperate measures.

With this phrase on repeat in your brain to fight down the guilt tearing at your insides you ignored Karamatsu's wheezing pleads to “stop running“ and clamped your jaw around the pin of the weapon, jerking your head back and immediately turning just a bit to chuck the ticking bomb at the vehicle wailing beside you. Hurriedly you shoved Karamatsu into an open alleyway that came like your guardian angel for protection from the explosion, grimacing at the very obvious and loud KABOOM! once your target was hit.

“(Name)?! What the hell?” Karamatsu demanded with wide, terrified brown eyes that were not exaggerated in the slightest—not a good match to his usual charming appearance—trying to squirm away from you as if you were some maniac.

...Debatable, but that was for a different time.

Inhaling shortly, you tried to collect yourself enough to form a reply, but the crackling of the flames and the astonished screams of citizens did nothing to help.

“I will explain everything,“ You promised quickly, the corner of the building casting a dark shadow diagonally across your (skin tone) face as your pupils dilated at the sound of nearing sirens. “But we need a place to hide.” Turning back to a frightened Karamatsu, your expression softened and you placed a hand gently on his quivering shoulder. “Do you know a place?”

Karamatsu breathed heavily through his nostrils and glanced every which way, pointedly avoiding your gaze, seeming to internally debate whether or not to help a longtime friend who had just blown up a car with no warning. Though, when he finally met your pleading (eye color) eyes, Karamatsu's knees and heart weakened a bit and he puffed out his last nervous breath, inhaling deeply and shakily raising his own pale hand to cover your own.

“My brothers are out right now and won't be home until midnight.”

“Midnight,“ You repeated as if it were a magic word. Everything always happened at midnight in fairytales.

However, this was no fairytale—not by a long shot. So with a trusting nod, you placed your faith in the male in front of you who laced your fingers together and tugged you along through shortcuts towards safety.

Once in the privacy of the Matsuno household, you immediately shut the door behind the two of you and released a long breath, tilting your head back until it thunked against the surface, allowing your body to slide and plop down onto the ground in an exhausted manner. Karamatsu had released your hand sometime earlier before you got to his front door, though he was studying it with a hard look as he paced a few steps into the living room, turning around and meeting your eyes that had been following him closely. Expectantly, he raised a thick brow, and you gave a huff, tossing your black duffel bag into his arms.

Caught off guard, he fumbled a bit but managed not to drop it, zipping it open with care. His eyes grew wide with astonishment as he stared down at the stacks of cash in piles, finally looking back at you with a gaping mouth.

“(Name), you... stole all of this?” He exhaled shakily, and you rose to your feet with a grunt, snatching the bag back and only feeling slightly bad when the male flinched. You zipped it back up and slung the strap over your shoulder, moving a hand through your (texture) hair and sighing.

“Look, I wouldn't expect you to understand. Just know I wouldn't hurt you or your family, er... something,” You cringed at yourself, disgust coiling in your gut that you had to tell your own friend harm would never come his way from your own doing. Karamatsu only sighed, and you waited for a shaky monologue as a rescue from this heavy atmosphere, but instead he shuffled his feet a bit and gave a hesitant nod.

“I wouldn't ever expect that of you,” Karamatsu murmured so softly you almost didn't catch it, though you just pursed your lips and gave him a respectful nod back.

Just as you were about to give some sort of lame excuse of why you had to leave—the air was uncomfortable and the look on Karamatsu's face made something in your chest twist unbearably—a fist rapped loudly on the front door that had you and the other male tensing in your spots.

“Hello, is anyone home? This is the police. We were hoping you could tell us if you saw anything strange tonight.”

Your heart was now writhing beneath your ribcage and adrenaline must have started converting you into a junkie because it shot through your veins for the umpteenth time this night and had you rapidly glancing everywhere in the house for an escape or a plan.

(Eye color eyes) brightening, you tossed the duffel bag onto the couch next to Karamatsu, earning a look of terrified confusion from him. You stepped forward with a soft huff and shoved him onto the bag so that half of his body covered it, raising a pointer finger to his lips so he understood.

“This is our only option, okay?” You whispered as quietly as possible, your breath buffering across his face. “Do I have your consent?”

“Consent for what?” He whispered back, thick eyebrows furrowing together.

“Do I have your consent or not?” You pressed with a nervous glance at the door when the knocking picked up once more.

“I—uh, yes?”

“Perfect.” Was all you sighed gratefully and instantly began to take off your shirt, climbing onto Karamatsu's lap and draping your arms over his shoulders. You watched with mild amusement as his pupils shrunk noticeably and his face brightened immediately, a choked noise of confusion leaving his throat.

“Just trust me,“ You breathed out with a gentle expression, taking his hands in your own and placing them on your (size) hips. His gaze traveled down to them and his eyebrows tightened closer together as he gave an experimental squeeze to your skin.

It would be endearing if police weren't after your ass(es).

Daring to lean closer, you pressed your chests tightly together and dipped your head beneath his chin, hot breath fanning Karamatsu's neck. You felt him shiver beneath you when you began to kiss his gleaming pale skin, his breathing pattern becoming slightly uneven when you gently clasped your teeth on his collarbone. You then dropped your hand down Karamatsu's chest to his thigh, rubbing circles across the fabric of his jeans, earning a low groan from him.

“(N–Name), I don't.. see why this would help,” He rasped out, grip tightening on your hips and breath hitching when you popped the button to his pants open.

“Shh,” You hissed nervously, gaze drifting back to the door with your heart galloping inside of your chest. “Just wait.”

Your ears picked up the sound of shuffling feet from outside until, and you watched out of your peripheral vision as the police officers peeked through the window just to the left of the door. You immediately focused on Karamatsu and yanked him into a kiss by cupping his face hard, and he inhaled sharply; as did the cops.

You pressed a bit harder against him to try and sell it—until you were caught completely off guard by Karamatsu moving his lips against your own strangely enticingly, causing a shaky noise of surprise to slip out of your otherwise preoccupied mouth.

The awkward murmuring between the officers and the fading thud of their footsteps leaving the Matsuno household was your cue to break away from the second eldest brother with a deep inhale, licking your lips soon after with an incredibly cocky smile.

“Way to sell it. But, uh,” You lifted a brow and gestured down to his obvious erection with a sneer. “Got a little carried away there, hm?”

“I—I can't help it!” Karamatsu defended hotly, now trying to push you off of his lap and cross his legs to cover himself.

Chuckling, you leaned forward and rested your forehead on his shoulder and relaxed your body entirely for just a moment. The fluttering sound of Karamatsu's heartbeat calmed your nerves, the anxiety of the situation dropping bit by bit with each breath exhaled by him. To your surprise, Karamatsu stilled himself and chose not to kill the moment with some cheesy, dramatic line most likely stolen from a famous novel or play, and instead stroked the skin on your hips comfortingly.

The intimacy of the moment began to chew at your insides and make you feel sick to your stomach, so you pushed yourself away quickly and moved to slide your black long sleeve back on, all the while Karamatsu still remaining silent.

Come on, (Name). Grab the bag and go. You can't let anyone or anything hold you back.

Apprehension took hold of your nerves once you turned to face Karamatsu, though you remained expressionless in order to keep yourself together. He pursed his lips as he looked at you, the floor, to the door, and back again, repeating the cycle until he gave a very long sigh and closed his eyes as if he were in pain, slowly removing himself from the duffel bag he was covering. You moved to grab it, but he caught your wrist unexpectedly and you tensed.

“Please.. be careful.” Was all he murmured, so quiet that you almost didn't catch it once again. He then loosened his grip on your appendage and took a step back, allowing you access to your stolen treasure.

Though every fiber in your body protested and screamed in agony when you slung the bag over your shoulder and began to head towards the door, you pressed forward until your fingertips touched the handle.

“...Don't come looking for me.” Were the last words you muttered, making your escape and leaving Karamatsu staring after you.

“I won't.” He sighed to no one in the empty  room.

Karamatsu turned on the television that night, switching every channel until he saw a pretty woman interviewing a witness to a crime, and he froze when he recognized your (skin tone) face matched with (eye color) eyes and a look of feigned innocence.

“...And what did you see that night, sir?” The reporter questioned, tipping the microphone in your direction.

“I was with my boyfriend all night until we heard the explosions from his house. I hope whoever did this ends up getting caught and imprisoned so that their actions are put to a stop,” You falsely stated with a tightening of your expression. You then focused entirely on the camera, staring through the screen and into Karamatsu's eyes as if you knew he was watching, and his heart nearly ceased its beating.

“It'd be a shame if everything were to happen all over again.”
